This facility was built by School District 83 as an addition to an existing building on the site of MV Beattie Elementary School. It consists of three daycare rooms with a kitchen, nap rooms, washrooms, and a small office. The goal of this project was to deliver an efficient and effective building within a restrictive budget.
The design team worked to provide a building that was simple and met the functional requirements without overshooting the user group’s needs. The HVAC systems consist of two commercial condensing furnaces with direct expansion cooling. Low level return air grilles were provided to eliminate stratification. A heat recovery ventilator was provided for each furnace to reduce energy consumed by heating outdoor air.
