Duchess Park Secondary School

Falcon Engineering provided the mechanical design for this school which has been certified LEED Gold. The state of the art geothermal system has led to an energy consumption rate that is 40% of any other secondary school in the region.
The HVAC system is based on a distributed heat pump system that utilizes water to water heat pumps to serve make up air units. The geothermal system is based on a vertical closed loop system that is roughly the capacity of 100 tons. Other energy saving initiatives utilize heat recovery from the relief air, demand control ventilation and variable hydronic flow.
