This facility is a 40 unit non-market housing building with commercial space on the main floor. The mechanical systems, which were designed to comply with the step code, consisted of air source heat pumps with backup electric heat. Ventilation air is supplied to the suites through a central heat recovery ventilator. These system choices were arrived at by working with the design team to balance mechanical system efficiencies with a high performance building envelope.
Electrical design included energy efficient LED lighting throughout the facility, occupancy/vacancy and daylight controls, and dark sky friendly exterior security lighting designed to CPTED guidelines.
